Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project. The Sydney Metro Northwest, which runs between Rouse Hill and Chatswood, opened in May 2019. Stage 2 of the project will see the implementation of Sydney Metro City and Southwest from Chatswood under Sydney Harbour, through new CBD stations and southwest to Bankstown. It is due to open in 2024 with seven new metro stations and eleven upgraded stations. The new railway will increase Sydney’s rail capacity by up to 60%, revolutionising how Australia’s biggest city travels.
When this stage is complete, the new, fully automated metro rail system, the first in Australia, will provide turn-up-and-go metro train services between 31 stations along a 66km railway. Every station will be a fully accessible railway with advanced customer safety features such as platform screen doors to keep people and objects like prams away from the tracks.
Ascent provides mechanical installation trades people to undertake the installation of PEB/PSD equipment. Our teams have been supporting and working alongside ARA and UGL from the start of the project in 2021 and will continue to do it until the project ends.
