The WestConnex M8 is a 9-kilometre-long tolled motorway that links the M5 Motorway at Kingsgrove to a newly built interchange at St Peters meant to ease the congestion built up on the M5 East. It consists predominantly of tunnels and includes tunnel connections to the future M4–M5 Link (the second stage of M8) and M6 Motorway.
It is one of the longest road tunnels in Australia, along with the NorthConnex, and the second major WestConnex project with a $4.3 billion budget.
Ascent provided teams of mechanical installations skilled teams to build the new road tunnel from Kingsgrove to St Peters and undertook the installation of 5 km of signage, speakers, CCTV brackets, and cable containment down the side of the walls, traffic control signs equipment, and PA.
